Chris Decker - UNDP

Season #1 Episode #1

Welcome to The Career Guide Podcast!

The Career Guide Podcast is a behind-the-scenes conversation with professionals who have managed to develop long-term careers overseas with organizations like the United Nations, EU, NATO, and OSCE. The goal of this interview series is not to provide technical details and advice already covered in this course but to hear from career professionals about the experiences, challenges, and life as an international professional.

Today we're talking with Chris Decker, who has spent the last 11 years working internationally as Project Manager and Adviser in Rule of Law and Human Rights projects for the UNDP in locations such as East Jerusalem, Nepal, and Kosovo. Chris started out as an International Legal Officer with International Crisis Group and transitioned to an Administrator position in the European Court of Human Rights Litigation Unit, followed by a Program Manager and Research position in the European Center for Minority Issues, and then spent 8 years working for the OSCE before starting as a Program Coordinator with UNDP. Overall, Chris spent 23 years working in the international environment, and we are happy to have him join us here today.
